Originally from Great Bend, Kansas, Joanna Sanchez earned her Bachelor of Social Work and Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Fort Hays State University and is currently pursuing her Advanced Standing Master of Social Welfare at the University of Kansas.
Joanna is passionate about making resources accessible and culturally relevant. Her interests include prevention, advocacy, education, and increasing access to services for marginalized communities. She is particularly interested in breaking cycles of generational trauma and strengthening family relationships through education and support. As an Education & Prevention Specialist with Jana's Campaign, Joanna helps develop and deliver programs focused on preventing domestic and dating violence, sexual violence, and stalking. Her work has strengthened her commitment to prevention, program development, and culturally responsive outreach. Outside of work and school, Joanna enjoys soccer, softball, traveling, attending concerts, and visiting Mexico to stay connected to her family's roots.
