Drs. Curt and Christie Brungardt:
Drs. Curt and Christie Brungardt are inspirational speakers with a powerful message! Individually or collectively, Curt and Christie share their message of hope over despair, courage over fear, love over hate, and peace over violence. Following the murder of their daughter in 2008, they have traveled the U.S. promoting gender and partner violence prevention and healthy relationship behaviors. Between them, they have over 51 years of experience in higher education where they have been active in the fields of leadership development and civic engagement. Their message is ideal for all audiences who are interested in making a difference.

Dr. Christie Brungardt:
Dr. Christie Brungardt is an Emeritus Professor of Leadership Studies at Fort Hays State University in Hays, KS. She has been the recipient of advising awards, as well as Fort Hays State University’s highest award for teaching, as well as service. On July 3, 2008, her life changed forever. Her daughter, Jana Mackey, a 25 year-old law student at the University of Kansas, was murdered by her ex-boyfriend in Lawrence, KS. Since Jana’s death, Christie has been active nationally in the effort to reduce all forms of gender and relationship violence. She and her husband Curt have established Jana’s Campaign, Inc., which is a national education and violence prevention organization with the single mission of reducing gender and relationship violence. In honor of Jana, and other victims and survivors, Jana’s Campaign delivers educational programs that prevent domestic and dating violence, sexual violence, and stalking.

Dr. Curt Brungardt:
Dr. Curt Brungardt is a co-founder of Jana’s Campaign, the Emeritus Omer G. Voss Distinguished Professor of Leadership Studies, and the Founder of the Center for Civic at Fort Hays State University. In his academic career, Curt specialized in political leadership, social justice, and community organizing. Curt has authored and co-authored several books and numerous articles in the field of civic leadership. His specific work with Jana’s Campaign has focused on engaging men and boys in reducing gender violence by examining modern masculinity. He speaks nationally on this topic and serves on the national advisory board of Coaching Boys into Men. Curt has presented to various audiences including student athletes, prison inmates, and Indian tribes. With years of experience, Curt is available for several different types of speaking engagements from middle schools to colleges and universities.

Kaiti Blackburn, MPS:
Kaiti Blackburn has presented to thousands of middle and high school students across Kansas, Colorado, and Nebraska during her 3 years as an Education and Prevention Specialist with Jana’s Campaign. She is currently the Executive Director, and will continue to educate students and community members about healthy and unhealthy relationship behaviors and how to immediately and effectively intervene when they see unhealthy behaviors occurring. In addition, Kaiti leads domestic violence in the workplace trainings and excels in presenting to audiences of all sizes. Her relatability and expert knowledge on the subject content connects well with students and community members of all ages.

Larissa Whitney:
Larissa Whitney studied Elementary Education at Fort Hays State University in Hays, KS. She taught middle and elementary school students in Larned, KS, and Hays, KS during her 12 years as an elementary teacher. Her dedication to reducing gender and relationship violence stems from the year she worked as a Weekend Shelter Advocate. During her time as an advocate, she directly helped survivors with hope and healing. As an Education and Prevention Specialist with Jana’s Campaign, she will present educational programs that prevent domestic and dating violence, sexual violence, and stalking to students and community members.
